Proximity and Exposure

Impact of Proximity and Exposure to Gambling on Gambling Disorders

Are gambling disorder prevalence rates twice as high near casinos? This information is often misunderstood and refers to outdated research.

More recent research demonstrates that, after a period of adjustment, prevalence rates return to the level that existed prior to the introduction of casinos. This adaptation effect has been confirmed by a number of reputable studies.

Download this fact sheet to understand the impact of proximity and exposure to gambling on gambling disorder prevalence rates.
