Besides research, what other initiatives does the ICRG support?

The ICRG strives to raise public awareness of gambling disorder; provide meaningful research-based education for clinicians, health providers and the gaming industry; and promote a lively exchange of ideas within the field of gambling research.

Every year, the ICRG hosts the annual ICRG Conference on Gambling and Addiction. This event allows gaming industry leaders, treatment providers, researchers and policymakers from around the world to engage in a dialogue focused on developing more effective treatment, prevention and responsible gaming programs. At the conference, the ICRG recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field through its Scientific Achievement Awards program.

The ICRG Webinar Series, created in conjunction with Global Gaming Expo (G2E), provides year-round educational opportunities designed to help individuals better understand and address critical issues related to gambling disorder and responsible gaming – without having to leave their own home or office. These online sessions feature some of the leading experts in the field sharing practical, take-home advice and engaging with participants in the same type of dynamic conversations experienced at the ICRG’s annual Conference on Gambling and Addiction.

Also, the ICRG hosts regional Treatment Provider Workshops that allow mental health and addiction treatment providers to better understand the most up-to-date research on gambling disorder and apply those findings to their clinical practice. Each training session features leading researchers and clinicians in the field of gambling disorder, and topics range from screenings and assessments for gambling disorder to new manuals including effective behavioral treatment strategies.
